Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art is celebrating its Sweet Sixteen! Join us as we revisit some of the hits from the past 16 years of Late Nights.

Grab a sweet treat for our Sweet Sixteen! Special birthday cupcakes will be available for purchase to satisfy your sweet tooth, and as our gift to you, the first 116 visitors who purchase food or beverages at the DMA Cafe will receive a free cupcake.

Wearable Art: Pan Ector Industries Screen Printed T-Shirts 
6:00–10:30 p.m., Tech Lab, Center for Creative Connections (C3)
Watch the art of screen printing with Pan Ector Industries and buy a T-shirt with a design inspired by the DMA’s collection and Late Nights’ Sweet Sixteen. Take a minute to enter our contest to win one of 16 free shirts designed by Pan Ector—winners will be announced at 9:30 p.m. in C3.

Late Night Talk: Behind the Scenes at the DMA

How are larger-than-life artworks brought into the Museum? Where does the art go when it’s not in the galleries? Join our team of registrars and art handlers for a peek behind the curtain and discover things you never knew about the DMA.

Late Night Main Stage featuring Rockestra 
8:00–9:00 p.m., Atrium
Rockestra is an experience of epic proportions! Founded by world-renowned cellist Buffi Jacobs of Polyphonic Spree, Rockestra incorporates vast musical knowledge and instrument mastery into a truly unique musical experience.

Late Night After Hours Showcase featuring Drew Zaremba 
10:00–10:45 p.m., Atrium
Jazz saxophonist Drew Zaremba and his zextet will perform his original compositions, including a new piece he composed inspired by works and artists in our collection such as Jackson Pollock.

Explore the Keir Collection of Islamic Art with contemporary artists, filmmakers, curators, and musicians who are responding to, or inspired by, traditional Islamic art and culture.

Spotlight Tour: Islamic Art at the DMA

Join DMA Curator of Islamic and Medieval Art Heather Ecker for a tour of the Keir Collection of Islamic Art. Tour is limited to the first 25 attendees. Visit the Will Call Desk on Level 1 at 6:15 p.m. to reserve your spot.
Artist Talk: Soody Sharifi
7:30 p.m., Horchow Auditorium
Soody Sharifi is an American-Iranian artist who works with photography, painting, and collage to explore the experience of living between two distinct cultures. Join Sharifi for a talk about her recently acquired painting Courtly Love in the DMA’s collection.
Late Night Film: Kedi
8:30 p.m., C3 Theater
In the surprise box-office smash Kedi, director Ceyda Torun returns to her native Istanbul to capture her hometown from the perspective of seven of the city’s hundreds of thousands of stray cats. Torun crafts an infectious portrait full of charm and sweetness, at once a love letter to the regal animal and to the ancient city itself. This film is not rated (2017, 79 min.).
Late Night Talk: Contemporary Muslim Fashion
9:30 p.m., Horchow Auditorium
Join Jill D’Alessandro, Curator in Charge of Costume and Textile Arts at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, for a talk about Muslim fashions past and present and the intersections of cutting-edge contemporary design and modest dress.

Thursday, January 10
Take a unique and unexpected look at the Museum’s collection with a pop culture twist. Celebrate a night all about the music of Queen and the life of their front man, Freddie Mercury, with art making, karaoke, and tours.

5:00–6:30 p.m., Atrium
Listen to DJ Yeahdef spin the songs that made Queen famous while sipping a cocktail or having a bite to eat in our cafe.
5:00–8:30 p.m., C3 Studio
Create your personal crest inspired by Queen’s album art with details from paintings in our collection, and then block print the design to make the crest a finished work of art.
5:00–8:30 p.m., Horchow Lobby
Test your knowledge of all things Queen(s), facts about your sexual health, and more presented by DFW Fuse!
6:30 p.m. & 8:00 p.m., Meet at the main Visitor Services Desk
Tour the galleries to discover queens, goddesses, and more that had a bit of a dark side.
6:30 p.m., Atrium
Play a Queen-themed name that tune and have the chance to win a prize.
Sign up in the Atrium beginning at 5:30 p.m.; contestant’s names will be pulled at 6:30 p.m.
